The Gather Network is an ELCA Young Adults ministry that brings together young adults living in various cities and regions across the ELCA. These ministries offer welcoming spaces for community, worship, conversation, and connection. Gather encourages participants to wrestle with meaningful questions about themselves, their faith, and the world around them. Our aim is to form communities where young adults of every race, ability, faith tradition, gender, sexuality, and viewpoint feel invited to meet, belong, and gather.

Up Coming Events

  • Sledding

    February 28th, 4:00 pm

Location TBD (will be sent out via email or text)

Crazy, chaotic, risky, tumbly, sledding event to get us out of our heads and into playfulness. There may even be hot cocoa and marshmallows

  • St. Valentine Murder Mystery Party

    February 6, 6:00 pm

Location TBD (will be sent out via email or text)

St Valentine: a 3rd-century Roman priest who defied Emperor Claudius II by secretly marrying Christian couples, as the emperor banned marriages believing single men were less hesitant to fight. Valentine was imprisoned, and while awaiting execution on February 14th, he supposedly befriended his jailer's daughter and wrote her a final note signed, "From your Valentine," creating the tradition.  This party will be a nod to the Saint’s perseverance to choose love over war by participating in our own little “murder/execution” investigation.

  • Documentary: 1946

March 14, 4:00pm at Gloria Dei

This documentary explores how a mistranslation of an Ancient Greek word in the 1946 Revised Standard Version (RSV) Bible created the concept of "homosexual" as a category, fueling anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment and discrimination in religious and political spheres for decades, following the personal journey of a lesbian scholar and her pastor father.  We will take time after the movie to discuss the ramifications we have experienced in the church around the LGBTQIA2+ community, and ways we can counter hate with love and belonging.

  • Adults only Easter Egg Hunt

April 10, 5-8pm at Gloria Dei

If a kid goes on an easter egg hunt, they typically find treats and goodies they wouldn’t normally have access to or permission to have. So, if an ADULT goes on an easter egg hunt, what kinds of treats and goodies would they find? Come and find out (must be over 18).

  • Zoo

    June 27. All day

Ride together from Rochester to Minnesota Zoo. Must RSVP

The older we get, the more likely we are to seek out the friendships of animals over people. They just seem less complicated. Let’s let our hair down and hang out with the primates for a day.
